Austin: March 15 + Houston "Third Tuesday" Show

Hey, Everybody!  It’s a beautiful day here in Houston with unusually low humidity and temperatures in the cool sixties—perfect Springtime weather for the scenic drive through the sparkling, blue-bonneted hills to Austin.

I’m really looking forward to getting back to Opa! on South Lamar tomorrow (Thursday, March 15) where I’ll be appearing with Greg Henkel on his incredible viofiddle at 3 p.m.  Big Kev’s annual Americana radio showcase at Opa! is such a welcomed reprieve from the hubbub of SXSW.  The café, with its cozy, coffee house atmosphere, magical outdoor patio, and dedicated parking lot, is the perfect setting for the diverse array of Texas and touring talent hand-picked for the occasion by Big Kev himself all the way from NYC.  This three-day event is in its ninth year now and still going strong, thanks to Kev.  Check out the lineup in the Austin Chronicle if you are in town for SXSW this week!

It is hard to believe that we’re already approaching another “third Tuesday of the month” show at historic La Carafe in downtown Houston on Market Square.  I am planning to get this one going a bit earlier than usual for a change, so we will start at 8 and play until 10 on Tuesday evening.  La Carafe is quite an intimate, low key spot with a moody, age-old feel, a real classic jukebox between sets, and a receptive audience of local insiders and the myriad world travelers who come and go to and from the nearby hotels that line the streets at the heart of the city.  I can’t imagine any place I’d rather play.

I hope that you’re enjoying this day.  Hope to see you in Austin or Houston if you’re in the area.  Happy Trails . . .

Y’all come!
