“Hurricane” is a metaphorical love song, conceived in the aftermath of a hurricane that hit my hometown near the Gulf Coast.  Sex and death imagery unifies the lyric as the narrator succumbs to the temptation of her lover whom she says, “gave me fair warning, but I thought I was strong.”  Mark S. Tucker, of the Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange (FAME), says, “it’s a song worthy of Kristofferson and pulls at the inner recesses more than a little, the refrain ‘I’ve slipped under again” hitting the ear with an all-too-familiar impact.’”
