I'm playing a great new listening room series called Heights Live! in the historic Houston Heights.  It will be a song swap with Craig Kinsey of Houston's popular band, The Sideshow Tramps, and Freddie Krc, who is a member of the Texas Music Hall of Fame, founder of the Explosives, and a long-time drummer with Jerry Jeff Walker's band.  He has appeared on over a hundred albums with such diverse artists as Carole King, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, and Roky Erickson, and he played drums with Doug Sahm and B.W. We started a non-profit (Greater Houston Music Alliance) to raise awareness of the scene to benefit local musicians, but also to attract touring artists to schedule shows here. We were contacted by the minister of Heights Presbyterian Church, Mark Downs, to start a music series. Mark used to play with the Indigo Girls, and he personally built the listening room / music hall. Through this series, artists have approached us to book shows - hence our agency "Now Hear This!"  We are building great relationships that we wouldn't have had otherwise, and that will help with our vision.  And,we're having fun."   And that's what it's all about.  I guarantee that you'll have some fun, too, if you join Freddie Krc and me on October 2 for a family friendly show in a warmly intimate, acoustically balanced atmosphere.  All performances are BYOB, and snacks and set-ups are available for purchase.
