I'm really looking forward to playing South By Due East, Houston's alternative to Austin's South By Southwest, when I head home from Austin on the last day of SXSW. (Houston is "due east" of Austin on Interstate 10, thus the name of the festival.) I've heard really good things about this well-established and well-organized event, spearheaded by Guy Schwartz of The New Jack Hippies fame. Last year, Billy Block came in from Nashville and played drums with some of the bands. What a treat! No doubt, there will be great music and a GREAT time to be had by all at one of Houston's landmark music venues, Dan Electro's Guitar Bar, where Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) has been known to show up and jam, along with a few other "big names" through the years, including Kevin Costner, believe it or not! They'll also be filming this performance, and so I hope to see you in the audience on March 22. Y'all come!
