Texas Tea House

2005 New Music Festival, 2612 Commerce St, Dallas, TX

It was such a pleasant surprise when the fabulous Devon Mikeska over at Dan Workman Music let me know that I'd been accepted to the New Music Festival in Deep Ellum this year! The competition was stiff, and as a relative newcomer on the scene I'm thrilled to have a spot in a line-up with some of the best Texas acts. Here's what the Festival Web site has to say about the event:

The New Music Festival is North Texas' premiere emerging music showcase event, dedicated to uncovering and celebrating the region's best new artists. From September 29 - October 1, 2005 thousands of screaming fans will flood the streets and clubs of Dallas' Deep Ellum club district to watch more than 200 of their favorite new artists perform live on more than ten stages, all within a 2-3 block radius. One wristband gets you in to all 2005 New Music Festival showcases throughout the entire festival (subject to clubs' capacity and clubs' age restrictions). PASSES ARE FREE IN ADVANCE! (Otherwise, wristbands may be purchased during the festival for only $10!)

Sounds almost too good to be true--all that fun packed into one weekend and one little niche--but it's for real and I'm not pulling your leg. So I'll see you there Friday night for some good ol' "Texas Tea." Y'all come out now, ya hear?
