I am so excited about opening for one of my favorite new bands, ESE, at one of the most famous venues in Houston. The Continental Club has such a great feel, housed in an old building on Main Street with wood floors, a lofty ceiling, and old fashioned ceiling fans that look original. Many of the best established and up-and-coming touring acts perform at the Continental, and it will be my first show there.
I met ESE when we played the Houston Press Music Awards Showcase together at the 306 Lounge, and they immediately caught my attention. Their charming performance at the VIP party at the Rice Hotel reminded me of the 1950's, even though they've been called everything from "pscyhobilly" to "punk & roll." And I wasn't the only one who noticed ESE. A Houston Press critic called them the best band in the entire showcase, and KPFT chose them for an on-the-air appearance after the showcase. This evening is going to be a guaranteed and bonified good time, so y'all come!
