Housed in an eclectic old two story on Houston's Westheimer curve, Helios is a coffee house and wine bar that offers art, theater, dance, music, video, film, and performance art on one outdoor and two indoor stages. (I will be playing downstairs.)
The place is actually a not for profit cultural arts organization but the atmosphere is relaxed and very casual. The owners go way back in the Houston art scene and their personal touch has made Helios a unique and very attractive spot that is worth visiting because it is truly one of a kind.
Originally, Doug Burr from Dallas, was scheduled to appear with me. I'm disappointed that he had to cancel because his wife's having a baby, but the replacement act appears to be "on his way." Magellan Records recording artist, Rozino Smith, now has music available at stores all over--including Target, Sam Goody, and Best Buy--and plays acoustic rock in true alternative singer-songwriter fashion. According to his Web site (www.rozinosmithband.com), "the contemplative, introspective panoramas painted by the singer-songwriter often invoke emotions on the edge of intensity."
No doubt, this will be a memorable evening of original music, live and up-close in an intimate space. Y'all come.
