Hey, Everybody. I’m writing tonight to say that I received a link today that I would like to pass along to you:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1371233509/the-library
When I studied playwriting with Edward Albee, I met Jason LaMotte, we formed a writers’ group at the local coffee shop, and now I’m a Texas singer-songwriter and he’s writing, directing and producing in England!
When Jason sent me this link to his new short film project, I was inspired to pass it along because it is the rare KickStarter campaign that I can support with all sincerity:

It is a five minute or so “teaser,” and it might move you to the verge of tears, but it is worth it. I do hope that if you are into the new crowd funding, you will support this project.
Here is a “copied and pasted” description:
“The film is for anyone who remembers the smell of their neighbourhood library, the first romantic note they ever got, or the sadness of seeing a loved one's mind slipping away. These are the elements that colour the story of The Library, a film that is equal parts romantic 'whodunnit' and bittersweet drama.
There are many reasons to support the film, but here are some of the top contenders:
- The film is a celebration of libraries and the literature they are home to.
- It delivers empathy for people affected by dementia, a terrible, debilitating disease that strikes 1 in 3 senior citizens.
- Rarely do films have strong roles for women - this one has two great roles, one a young girl, another an old woman.
- The team assembled for the project has tremendous talent, passion, and experience.
- It will be a beautiful, moving film.”
I’ll be playing here in Houston in a songwriter in the round showcase downtown at Dean’s on Sunday evening, but this isn’t about me. I will send a brief announcement with details tomorrow.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy life.
Y’all come.
