NYC Saturday, Feb 15 and Houston Saturday, Feb 8

Saturday, February 15 at 6 p.m. @ Caffe Vivaldi

32 Jones Street, New York City 10014

Hey, Everybody!  First, I want to let all the New York people know that, yes, "I’ll be back."  I’m booked at Caffe Vivaldi at 32 Jones Street next Saturday evening, February 15 at 6 p.m.  It’s a supper show, CD signing and hour-long performance, and I would love to see you there.  Caffe Vivaldi is my favorite place to play in Greenwich Village—independently-owned for decades by a hands-on, on-premises proprietor who actually does the booking himself and is quite a wonderful person to know in New York.  Al Pacino and Woody Allen movies have been filmed here, Steve Earle is reported to live nearby, and there is a full line up of music every night, as well as a full bar, and a full dinner menu, which impresses me as rather “gourmet.”

“Caffe Vivaldi exudes an old-world European languor-a small irony, since it was opened in the ’80s by an industrious emigre from Pakistan. A weathered bench runs along one wall; the wall opposite, cluttered with somber black-and-white portraits of classical composers, is recognizable from films by Al Pacino and Woody Allen.  For the past decade or so, the cafe has featured live music nightly: jazz, classical or folk, depending on the night.” –JazzTimes

Saturday, February 8 from 9:30-Midnight @ Khon’s

2808 Milam in Midtown, Houston 77006

AND Houston people:  Tomorrow night, February 8, from 9:30-midnight I’ll be back at Khon’s wine and coffee bar, my favorite venue in trendy Midtown, Houston.

This artist-owned and operated space offers an intimate, casual-yet-elegant atmosphere, staffed by familiar faces from the Houston theater and art scene, featuring excellent classic jazz on Sunday evenings, amongst a weekly lineup of up-and-coming local bands and occasional art openings that attract members of Houston’s insider scene.

I look forward to sharing the evening with Texan songwriter, Jimmy Pizzitola, who also hosts the Tuesday night songwriter showcases at another favorite Houston spot, historic La Carafe, in the heart of downtown.  Greg Henkel of the Flying Fish Sailors, Houston’s multi-award-winning folk group, will accompany me on his impressive viofiddle.

Khon's has a free, lighted parking lot right up front AND a romantic skyline view under the Midtown lights . . .

Houston, New York City: Y’all come!
