La Carafe: Downtown Houston Tomorrow (Tuesday)

Hey, Everybody!  I’m just basking in the afterglow of a recording session at Sugar Hill Studios here in Houston with engineer, Andy Bradley, co-author of the book, Hits from the Hill, about the history of the studio and the staggering number of hit songs that have been recorded there since the 1940’s!  It was a magical experience.  We caught the song on a first take, and it sounds incredible.  I didn’t write this one, by the way.  I met the British writer, Timothy Rice-Oxley (from the band, Keane), here in Houston at one of my performances back in January, and we’ve kept in touch from “across the pond.”  Looks like it’s going to be a duet, but in the meantime, I’m going to post my solo version for a day or two on my site at www.glennabell.com if you feel like giving it a listen.  It is weighing in at a nice 2 minutes, 55 seconds.  What a beautiful song!

And I’m looking forward to my return to La Carafe in downtown Houston tomorrow night from about 9:30-10:15 as the special guest of the evening, hosted by my friend, Jimmy Pizzitola:

“La Carafe is a romantic spot, low key and casual yet classy.  Intimate.  Good beers and wines by candle light.  Conversation friendly.  Nice outdoor seating/smoking tables on Market Square.  Free street parking in the evenings.  Could be haunted.  One of Houston's oldest commercial buildings--historic and atmospheric!”

Bring cash.  They don’t take plastic.
