Happy Veterans’ Day, Everybody! I’m in a particularly celebratory mood with many exciting musical projects in progress and on the horizon, including the second anniversary celebration of the Tuesday Night Texas Singer-Songwriter Showcase, hosted by Jimmy Pizzitola, at historic La Carafe, Downtown tonight!
I’ll be accompanied by the talented Greg Henkel on viofiddle and Parker Murphy on upright bass between 11 and 11:30, but I’m planning to get there early to catch some of the acts and to socialize and have some fun, so if you’re in Houston, I hope to see you this evening. Thanks to everyone who came out to this event last year! It is a pleasant memory of being there together near the holiday season in such a convivial atmosphere and novel setting of the “private” upstairs room at La Carafe, overlooking scenic Market Square with a front row view of the downtown lights as the backdrop to an array of intimate acoustic performances.
I’m also looking forward to recording a new song at Sugar Hill Studios this Friday AND am very excited about a music video shoot scheduled for the end of the month! The video will showcase another new song from my forthcoming album, and it is the story of a high school romance, so it has been a lot of fun meeting the teenage actors from the Theater Under the Stars musical theater program here in Houston. Most of all I am thrilled to have my dear friend, the artist Natali Leduc, behind the camera, directing again as she did with such artistry and insight when we shot “The Southern Gothic Wedding Waltz” video here in Houston about a year ago.
I will keep you posted, as always, on all of this and more, but in the meantime, in honor of Veterans’ Day, I wanted to pass along to you a really lovely new music video by a good friend I met in Dallas and toured with a few years ago, Jimmy Baldwin, and directed by his creative young daughter, Ruby.
