Hey, Everybody!   I’m on the hot seat here in Houston today with nothing but window fans for cool air after my a/c system decided to go on strike yesterday soon after my water supply had to be shut off because the city broke the line while jack hammering the pavement off of my poor, helpless little street to install a new sewage system and make way for the big condo’s and corporate chains that they say will “improve” this “blighted” neighorhood that has fallen into what they call “urban decay.”  As I sit here sweltering in this dust bowl that they’ve so thoughtfully engineered for us, I wonder how much longer our beautiful, simple way of life can hang on here at the forgotten edge of the city.  Each day I am painfully reminded that “the times they are a changing” yet in the most unnatural of ways.  To mark this moment, I’m posting a song that I wrote about my beloved home in Houston’s historic Second Ward.  To listen, just click below, and hear me sing for you in stereo:

No doubt, I’m looking forward to being cool in Houston tonight, downtown at one of my favorite old-school hip spots, Dean’s Credit Clothing.  Thanks to Andrew Karnavas for inviting me to perform in this singer-songwriter showcase that he hosts on Sundays, “featuring three artists, each playing six songs total, alternating artists between every song.”  We will play three rounds, take a break, and play three more rounds.  The show will be filmed live!  And I will be sharing the stage with
